You are NOT the father, phrase made famous by Maury is a guilty pleasure we sometimes enjoy on an off dayor after work.  We sit back and subconsciously  or out loud pass judgement as if that could never be one of us. But the person who is most humiliated isn’t the mother testing 5 men or the alleged father that denies some type of responsibility, but the innocence of that child. 

Can you imagine at your current age how you would feel if your parent(s) did the same thing. You would be angry, you would want them to stop fighting, you would want them to do this in the privacy of their home or court room.  You would not want the beginning of your destiny wide open for millions to laugh and pass judgement.

One day after school that child will sit in front of the computer surf You Tube  and watch a man  he/she knows as their father vehemently deny his seed and their mother being laughed at because she is now portrayed as something less than a woman. There is a chance this kid develops serious psychologiclal problems or even continue  the cycle. This opens up for bullying in school, depression, questions of self-worth and God forbid suicide.

We all know mistakes happen and no one is exempt from life’s situations, but we must strive daily to make better decisions. We must think unselfishly before we lay down with someone and 9 months later when there is a child involved. Know your worth, understand  the worth of your child and lets show Maury and the world that our children are worth more than TV ratings.

Lets take back our lives, take back our responsibility, lets take back our Authority.
